Vintage Chic Showcase with Small Masterpiece ~ Featured on Style Me Pretty

Small Masterpiece owner Jason Murakawa and XOXO BRIDE’s Sonia Hopkins come together to present Jason’s amazing 1840’s Haviland and 1950’s dish collection.  Nestled in the tranquil Herb Garden of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, our hearts were set on displaying these amazing showpiece dish, flatware and stemware collections.  Highlighted with romantic blooms by Dandelion Ranch, Clover created just the touch each table needed.  Brent Jongeward of BAM Specialty Fabric Draping gave us beautiful and textural draping of the Herb Garden providing a room outdoors.  The fabulous vintage chairs, settees and chandeliers were graciously provided by Krista Jon of Archive Vintage Rentals.

We chose a linen with yellow design that would pop with the 1950’s collection and a more classic and clean linen with the Haviland collection, all provided by La Tavola. The stunning (and oh so funny!) Michelle Beller of MiBelle Photography captured our soiree with an eye for detail and a talent in capturing all things beautiful.

Fess Parker Doubletree ~ Courtney & Tyler

Courtney & Tyler’s style and theme was inspired from a fresh breeze of colors in corals and cool blues set against the backdrop of the Cabrillo Beachside.  We had so much fun planning this event with Courtney, a self professed Etsy and DIY fan, who at every corner was creating and sculpting the details to perfection.  Congratulations to Courtney & Tyler!

Rachel & Ray, Featured on Style Me Pretty – Part II

Guests were invited to take a short stroll with cocktail in hand down the meandering pathway to the rustic barn. They were greeted by large oversized iron gates at the entrance with vintage keys marking their seats. Large crystal and gold chandeliers with formal family style tables adorned the antique barn thus creating a space fine enough for a king to dine. Blues, bright pinks and varying textures were created in the blooms to entertain their guest’s senses. Rachel had collected many antique mirrors, trays, and vases to dress the tables.

After dinner and many funny words of happiness to the bride and groom, the party moved up to the dance floor and lounge where they dance the night away to a friend’s vintage collection of records. The underground vibe the records gave with unique and “old school” mixes excited all. As guests departed they were treated to a generous jar of local honey topped with antique lace and a note of thanks from the couple.
The night concluded with a classic 1941 baby blue Studebaker whisking them away bottle of champagne freshly popped in hand and guests cheering their happiness.

Rachel & Ray, Featured on Style Me Pretty – Part I

My experience with Rachel & Ray began with a small crush on them both. Rachel, a beautiful, talented, smart entrepreneur wanted a wedding from a very unique perspective that she, Ray and their guests would enjoy. Ray, a quick-tongue, methodical thinking, handsome Irish chap, wanted a wedding comfortable and elegant for his bride to be. Both found what they wanted in Rancho Dos Pueblos a private beach, barn and estate on the coast of Santa Barbara.

Rachel and Ray chose the posh Bacara Resort & Spa for their accommodations. Her gown, a Jim Hjelm designed by Lazaro, completely embodied Rachel’s stunning beauty. She wore it with grace. For her bridesmaids, a frilly ABS by Allen Schwartz, styled them whimsically yet elegant. The bride hand-made her ladies bird cage veils that accompanied their dresses perfectly. Did I mention Rachel is talented?! I love a bride that’s confident enough to break the rules and have her girls wear their own birdcage veils, bravo Rachel!
Rachel a self professed shoe addict, had bought her shoes years before she had met Ray knowing they were “the” shoe she would wear on her wedding day. Her exquisite bouquet was accompanied by a delicate filigree horseshoe her soon-to-be mother-in-law had given her as a good luck charm.
The inspiration to the décor and design of their wedding was “Let my love open the door” with a rustic meets Versace twist. The couple had scouted out two large iron gates which were propped tall in length, dressed in bougainvillea and used as the backdrop to their ceremony vows. Rustic church pews were mixed with Chiavari chairs to seat their guests giving the overall theme of a beautiful and unique outdoor church. They had also found a 13 ft window frame extracted from a home in Egypt which we in turn used as a door way for the bride to walk down her aisle. Rachel and her bridesmaids were transported literally to the aisle “doorway” on Santa Barbara’s classic Trolley.
We took advantage of the great signage to scroll directions and little verbiage to guests along their journey to the ceremony. Ray, the sweet guy that he is, hunted down a vintage copy of the single “Let My Love Open The Door” by Pete Townshend and had it framed for guests to sign. We absolutely loved his attention to detail!
Guests enjoyed seasonal and savory bites, cocktails and a horseshoe pit (too fitting don’t you think!) during the cocktail hour. An immaculate private beach to the right and to the left a quaint pond (including ducks) with a large train trellis overhead served as spectacular views for photos.

La Tavola – Santa Barbara!

I attended the opening of La Tavola’s, http://latavolalinen.com/, new showroom in Santa Barbara. I am very excited to welcome the ladies of La Tavola, Brandi Wolff and Sofia Van Wingerden, to Santa Barbara. The show room is a little gem in itself with striking color pallets, neatly hung linen samples and table scapes that entice the eye. My good friend Michael Mantalos of Louloudi, http://www.louloudidesign.com/contact.html, created amazing arrangements that illuminated the room. I could not keep my fingers from flipping through the amazing textures and colors. Their selections inspire to create and design and I’m thrilled to have this new location to introduce to my current and future clients. If you haven’t yet chosen your linens for your event, check out http://latavolalinen.com/!
